Taking design inspiration from a butcher's shop, this quirky East London Barber's shop ticks all the boxes for the modern day man.

Chris Ward was inspired by a butcher's shop with white London Underground tiles on the walls, art hanging from butchers hooks and a meat counter where all of the products are displayed. 

The first shop is positioned on a street corner opposite Hoxton Square so it was decided to keep the front simple and the windows clear so that people can see straight in. The shop features 8 vintage factory lights from Labour and Wait, to add to the butcher's feel there are 4 retro black Takara Belmont Apollo 2 chairs with white piping around the edges. The chairs were the first purchase and the timeless black and white colour scheme within the shop was ultimately designed around them.

As a pre-requisite all of Huckle the Barber's team have 8 years or more experience. Most are also session stylists working on Men's Fashion Week and editorials. 

One wall of the shop is dedicated to local artists. The artist and art changes every 6 weeks. The wall has previously show-cased work from Paul "Don" Smith, Snub23 and BLAM. Each of the artists does a live paint in the shop inviting audiences in to watch. 

Music is very important to Huckle the Barber. As a result the shop has a Bowers and Wilkins sound system to play music that both staff and clients are passionate about. Both new and old but always appropriate for the time of day. Huckle the Barber also invites bands who are playing in the area to perform an acoustic session which is show cased on the website featuring a band interview. 

We try to stock brands that are unique to Huckle the Barber and hand pick them from all over the world. We are now proud to bring to Huckle the Barber our own collection of men's grooming products.

The concept behind Huckle the Barber is for a gent to feel hassle-free when getting his hair or beard trimmed. Huckle the Barbers offers a relaxed haven away from the hustle and bustle of London life for a 45 minute experience and will ensure each customer returns knowing that they will get a great service with no pretence.
